Associate Attorney Maureen M. Roberts

Maureen M. Roberts is an associate attorney at Knitter & Knitter, LLP., and practices in the areas of probate and trust litigation, financial elder abuse, probate, conservatorships, and cross-over family law related issues. Cross over issues handled include reimbursement rights, property characterization issues, and problems that arise when a spouse passes away or becomes incapacitated during the Family Law proceeding. Maureen continues to practice in the area of family law limited to dissolutions of marriage and legal separations without children, as well as property division, and spousal support related issues. Maureen is a member of the California Lawyers Association, Solano County Bar Association and Contra Costa County Bar Association.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Maureen excelled for 19 years as a legal assistant/paralegal in the area of Family Law. Maureen’s experience in Family Law has allowed her as an attorney to understand and address specific issues that can arise during a dissolution of marriage or legal separation. Her undergraduate studies focused on Psychology at California State East Bay where she obtained an acute understanding of human behavior, development, aging, emotions and social interactions. This background provides Maureen with the unique ability to identify predatory and manipulative practices to assist in the evaluation of the firm’s elder financial abuse and undue influence cases.

While working full time and raising a family, Maureen earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 2015 from John F. Kennedy University School of Law. Maureen was recognized for her achievements and honored with three Witkin Awards for academic excellence. As a non-traditional law student, Maureen proved her perseverance and dedication to her studies and family. She gained an appreciation of the criminal justice system and the challenges faced by the indigent population fostered through her internships during and after law school at the Solano County Public Defender’s Office in both the misdemeanor and felony departments.

Born in Walnut Creek, California and having resided in Solano County since 1988, Maureen is dedicated to her local community where she resides with her husband and two teenage sons. Maureen’s unique background allows her to provide grounded perspectives and understanding to clients who must navigate through emotional issues involved in the areas of practice.
